  • 339 - The One Where We Talk About Limbo
We have another week of the Chatterbox Videogame Radio Show, sans Alon. Ara and Colin focus mainly on the gameplay of the XBLA game Limbo, along with the various interpretations of it's ending. The duo also touches on retail versus digital game sales, and the greatness that is Muramasa: The Demon Blade. Podcast team, assemble!.

  • 338 - Game Developers Unite!
So begins the two weeks of just Ara and Colin, while Alon is on his honeymoon. We have the special guest Caitlin Ellis, the president of the Phoenix branch of the International Game Developers Association. We touch on the games that we've all been playing (Including why Brutal Legend doesn't suck), what exactly the IGDA does and how you can get involved with making games, why gamers prefer hardcopies of games, and a myriad of other topics.

  • 337 - Say my name
Do you know who I am? No, you don't, because Blizzard backed down and won't be using the Real ID system after everyone complained about it. We don't know what all the fuss was about; a little cyberstalking never hurt anyone. What has hurt us is bad interface, useless boxart, and pushy suits with motorcycling monkeys on the brain.

  • 336 - PlayStation 9
Ara finally gets Muramasa and loves it. We debate the validity of shame achievements. Alon ponders what might be in store for the future of gaming; maybe next week they'll actually present some ideas on the topic.

  • 335 - Ara and Colin run the show
Ara and Colin run the show for another exciting week of Alon's absence.

  • 334 - More E3, more amazing
Colin's back to discuss E3 with more depth while Alon is away preparing for his wedding.

  • 333 - E3 is here
E3 is on. Without a new console in sight, it's weird to realize that it's actually the year of new hardware. Colin is on-site and calls in for a cameo to report on the events of the show. Trapper, Ara's friend and Technical Director of the super-secret project they're working on, joins in on the fun.

  • 332 - Kombat and Kringles
This episode is a light-hearted romp around several topics - video game movies, the hilarity of Street Fighter storylines, pastry, and bad baby names, E3 expectations, etc. Ara also sounds off on games that require the player to take damage. Those looking for excellent Kringles should hit up OHDanishBakery.com

  • 330 - Can you say that on the air?
My notes for this episode go a little something like this... privates, Red Dead Redemption writer, "casual" games, lazy raiders - the meta game for this week is to figure out what that means while listening and patting yourself on the head! 3, 2, 1, go!

  • 329 - Ara, Colin, and Soul Calibur
Alon's gone for the week, but Ara and Colin steal the show while he's away.

  • 328 - Dicking around in 3D
Alon loves Picross 3D even if it is just more Picross. This leads to discussion of 3D gameplay in general and the advantages and disadvantages provided by the third dimension. Also on the plate is the idea that games are so big and so hard that people end up just dicking around with them. That's right... dicking.

  • 327 - The perfect board game and truth behind Nintendo's 3DS
With E3 steadily inching toward us and a plethora of new devices either just released or soon-to-be-announced, all Alon can do is dream about the perfect electronic board game while Ara wants to check out video game camp, and Colin reminisces about World of Goo. Virtual Boy rulez!

  • 326 - Introducing Colin the intern
A new superfan, Colin, came to the studio to listen to Ara tell his triumphant tale of XBOX customer support and to join in the great debate of Ebert vs the gamers.

  • 325 - Go Joe!
Joe, the Super Fan, sits in on this week's show. During his time with us, Joe must endure endless self-indulgence, controversy surrounding additional, but unsurprising, antics at Gamestop, a party to which no ladies were invited, and repeated screaming of his feminazi friend's name while she refused to call in to speak her mind. Go Joe!

  • ChatterBox Video Game Radio - Show 324
The Infinity Ward exodus; the looming threat of network censorship and control that stands to shatter the very ground you walk on and ruin your life forever; why Ara hates it when people suggest we need more of X in games today.

  • ChatterBox Video Game Radio - Show 323
We've received a lot of email lately so we took some time to go over it. What joystick to buy, how to stump Ara, what Wil Wheaton thinks of MMOs and the Skinner Box. Also, an impromptu visit from BaconSandwich, Omeganaut 2010.

  • ChatterBox Video Game Radio - Show 322
In this episode, we relate toilets and game design. It's such a feat that Ara puts forth an ongoing challenge to the listeners. We also continue the discussion of addicting elements in games. Based on current news, it seems games are so addicting that at least one guy couldn't help himself from stealing code right off the PAX East show floor.

  • ChatterBox Video Game Radio - Show 321
Tyrone Rodriguez, of Nicalis, joins us once again to discuss Cave Story which has finally been released as WiiWare. You should go buy that immediately before or after buying The Red Star which was also just released on the PlayStation Network. Friends of the show will remember The Red Star as Ara's first major development project and one of which he is still very proud.

  • ChatterBox Video Game Radio - Show 320
After ranting about subscription services, we delve into the psychology of addictive gaming. We'll be back with more next week.

  • ChatterBox Video Game Radio - Show 319
Microsoft is OK with the gays, Ubisoft found out why its DRM was such a dumb idea, Forza 3 gives Ara insight into the corporate battle against used games and lost profit, we ponder the value of watching others play video games, and we tease a topic for next week - the psychology of why you keep playing crappy games.

  • ChatterBox Video Game Radio - Show 318
Big dawgs at Infinity Ward get the axe, and the whole world reacts. Portal 2 creates an alternate reality something. Ara and Alon ponder the potential benefit to the publisher of an extra long demo.

  • ChatterBox Video Game Radio - Show 317
Could giving up your game for Lent save the world? Actually, we didn't talk about that much, but we want to hear what you have to say about it. Shoudl Square Enix rot in hell for what they did? Should we care that companies kill multiplayer servers when sequels release? Is Bobby Kotick a robot? Does novelty guarantee quality?

  • ChatterBox Video Game Radio - Show 316
The Illusion of Choice, a Heavy Rain introspective.

  • ChatterBox Video Game Radio - Show 315
Role-playing games - a story of evolution, imagination, and scandal. OK, maybe not scandal, but Alon does tell a quick story of accidentally watching some gay porn in college.

  • ChatterBox Video Game Radio - Show 314
Ara's upset about the comments on his recent Gamasutra.com article - http://fwd4.me/E3o - so we're led to clarify his intentions and further consider the difficulty of combining narrative and gameplay. Go read it and email us your thoughts. Alon questions the motives of Playboy in its appeal to the gamer demographic.

  • ChatterBox Video Game Radio - Show 313
Ara wrote an article for Gamasutra.com - The Uneasy Merging of Narrative and Gameplay. We talk about it.

  • ChatterBox Video Game Radio - Show 312
ChatterBox has now officially been on the air for over six years. Though we don't do anything out of the ordinary to celebrate, we do have a great show. Maybe it's because Rich is gone. We discuss the upcoming XBOX 360 controller from Razer, we interview Ashish Mistry from KontrolFreek.com, and we tell stories of 8-bit pranksters and durability tests. FYI, get 10% off products from KontrolFreek.com with the code CHATBOX. Ara kind of loves their stuff, so you might too.

  • ChatterBox Video Game Radio - Show 311
Alon and Rich return from CES with stories of porn stars and boredom. Alon and Ara give an etymology lesson. We're reminded, once again, that gamers often don't know what they want.

  • ChatterBox Video Game Radio - Show 310
It's 2010, and we haven't heard a peep about the next generation. Are game reviews valid, useless, or just flawed? Why did Alon spend any time playing at all playing Assassin's Creed II?

  • ChatterBox Video Game Radio - Show 309
In this episode, we learn all about pachinko machines, satire in video games, and pricing disparity. We also learn about how much Pen loves Modern Warfare 2.
