So, check this out and come back in a second.

NBA 2K6 glitch

.
.
.

So, pretty weird, huh? Nothing to worry about, just a funny glitch. But wait, dig a little deeper. Think a little longer. Did you read the part about the player who's been wearing nothing but underwear for several games? What if the developers, in the interest of accuracy, had decided to make the player anatomically correct?

Now, I have no doubt in my mind that this situation is a glitch and unintended. Who knows, maybe it's not even a glitch, maybe it's a hoax, but it brings up a very interesting question. You see, the argument has been made that Rockstar never intended for the "Hot Coffee" scenes in GTA: San Andreas to be seen by the public. Well, WHAT IF A BUG INTRODUCED PORNOGRAPHY TO GAMERS?

Let's assume this is a real bug, not a hoax. Do you think NBA 2K6 should be re-rated "T for Teen" because there is a player in his underwear playable in the game?

Do you think 2K Sports (ironically part of the Take-Two umbrella, I believe) should be responsible for allowing such an "obscene" glitch to exist in their game? I sure bet you could find a few people who would argue that they should be. I won't name names, but pixelantes across the globe have heard me refer to a certain someone as "whacko" and "jacktastic" in the past. He and his clearly christian agenda would definitely have something to say about this.

I know this is kind of funny, but it's also a potentially very serious issue, especially with such realistic modeling in games these days. Imagine if the next Team Ninja game (read: game with extremely detailed and busty female characters) had this sort of glitch. If the developers are responsible for unused code, it's quite conceivable that they would be responsible if such a glitch ever proved possible. Or hell, it would probably be fairly easy for a Gameshark code to remove the polygons of a bathing suit or a bum's overcoat or a mother's robe... Hell, you can already do a much more extensive and graphic hack in DOA: Exteme Beach Volleyball on a hacked XBOX.

If you listen to the show, you probably already know my feelings on the subject, but considering what was actually done in the Hot Coffee case, this is something that needs to be discussed.

Guess what's gonna be on this Sunday's show?

What do you think?
