Alon's Blog I produce and host the only video game radio show there is... Why haven't you heard of it? So for more than the last year and a half I've produced and hosted the ChatterBox Video Game Radio show. Haven't heard of it? Yeah, I'm not surprised. The weird thing is that it doesn't suck. If you ask people who've listened to it, they'll probably tell you it's actually pretty good. In fact, I haven't heard anyone slam it since the day we started the thing and people felt like bitching about it in forums because it was new. So, here's my dilemma... I can't keep this thing running on fumes. It costs money to keep a show running, so ChatterBox needs to attract some sponsors. This is going to be my record of how I try to make something out of what was once nothing. It's not meant to be educational, and I can't guarantee it'll be entertaining, but I bet someone will find it interesting. I don't know what kind of person that is, and if it's you, well, you might do well to keep it to yourself. Just a heads up...

Lucky me. When Sean agreed to do the show, I got to keep the rhyme. Unfortunately, that only lasted a short while until Sean flaked out too. What made this loss significantly worse than when Don left was that Sean and I were friends outside of the show. What am I supposed to do when he doesn't show up, though? Should I be happy about it? Just not care? Screw that. I was pissed. I did get to hear the best excuse ever, though. "I didn't have any gas." Swear. to. god. Hey, I have a car, douchebag! I could pick you up. You could call in. Whatever. "I didn't have any gas." The best part is that I didn't even hear that excuse for days after the fact.Write Comment (0 Comments) |

So, yeah. Cohosts have mostly been a "can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em" sort of situation at ChatterBox. In the very beginning, I was given no greater status than Donald. In fact, Luke, the producer, had a greater share of the nothing that we brought in than either of the hosts. The irony, though, is that Luke did the least for the show. Granted, he WAS responsible for finding our one sponsor who kept the show afloat, but once that deal was made, it was like he washed his hands of the project. Wow, you know what? That'll be another topic. I was trying to talk about cohosts...Write Comment (0 Comments) |

The whole thing started in January 2004. The previous month, one of my professors at UAT (University of Advancing Technology) asked what I thought about the idea of starting a talk radio show about video games. It was ironic, I thought, since I'd told him several months earlier about wanting to do a public access TV show about games since I knew I could put something together that was more entertaining than the crap you can get on TV right now. *For the record, I don't think every video game related show out there sucks balls. Most, though... yeah, it's safe to say that MOST do. Write Comment (0 Comments) |
