Alon's Blog I produce and host the only video game radio show there is... Why haven't you heard of it? So for more than the last year and a half I've produced and hosted the ChatterBox Video Game Radio show. Haven't heard of it? Yeah, I'm not surprised. The weird thing is that it doesn't suck. If you ask people who've listened to it, they'll probably tell you it's actually pretty good. In fact, I haven't heard anyone slam it since the day we started the thing and people felt like bitching about it in forums because it was new. So, here's my dilemma... I can't keep this thing running on fumes. It costs money to keep a show running, so ChatterBox needs to attract some sponsors. This is going to be my record of how I try to make something out of what was once nothing. It's not meant to be educational, and I can't guarantee it'll be entertaining, but I bet someone will find it interesting. I don't know what kind of person that is, and if it's you, well, you might do well to keep it to yourself. Just a heads up...

Just a quick blog while I kill some time at E3...
After Sony's press briefing, they ushered everyone into a game arcade area where we could try out their new stuff. Believe it or not, there were a few things I wanted to play. In fact, I bet I could have stayed there the whole day, but appointments prevented that.
I was pleasantly surprised by one game in particular, though. I suspect this will be a surprise for anyone who knows me because there's a whole lot of potential to just complain about this game...

Wii better get to calibrate games to our own bodies. |

Wii need strength calibration My friend linked me to a preview of Super Swing Golf for the Wii today. Longtime listeners of the show will remember me complaining about the poor control offered by the Wii when compared to what most of us were expecting. My complaints were apparently very contraversial. I thought you might want to read my response to my friend linking me. The friend, by the way, is Sean, who used to cohost the show.

Excited to give away prizes I've received a few e-mails since doing the ChatterBox TreasureBox gameshow at PAX 2006... I'd like to say I'm not the type of person to toot my own horn, but you all know that's not true. I love to talk about Me, and I love it when others do as well. So, when someone takes it upon themself to send me a message about Me, my day is made. Stuff like the following:"You have tremendous charisma and wit, on par or exceeding any of the best media personalities..." and "There was a constant enjoyment and it was an excellent show." Yeah, that's good stuff. It's the kind of stuff that makes me happy to do the show. Thanks for the kind words, ChatterBoxers. It's really appreciated, even if your noses are a little brown. I'm going to E3, and I got to talk about it on WEBN 102.7 FM |
|
Wednesday, 10 May 2006 |
So, magical forces intervened and I'm going to E3 after all. Very happy about this. Very happy. I also got to talk all about it this morning on WEBN 102.7's morning show, the Dawn Patrol. It's one of the premiere FM stations in Cincinnati, OH, and it went really well. They've asked me to come back after I've had the chance to play all the new games. Stay tuned, and I might even get a recording of my guest appearance in case anyone is interested. Write Comment (2 Comments) |

Joystiq takes the sting out of being stuck in the armpit that is Phoenix |

 (C) Joystiq or whoever they pray to So I'm not going to E3 this year. Boy does that suck. It sucks hard. Real life bit me in the ass this week and is preventing me from doing my duty as a gamer. I'm not writing this blog entry to bitch about it, though. I'm actually writing this to thank the bloggers out there. My personal preference is Joystiq, but they're not the only ones doing the job. My Game Wall
| That right there is my wall o' games. It's hard to spot in the photo, but there's something very special right in the center. I don't even remember exactly what year is was, but after years of thinking how great it would be to get the greatest game of all time autographed by Miyamoto himself, I finally hit paydirt. After Nintendo's E3 press conference, I snuck behind the curtain to find myself backstage handing Shiggy my sacred cartridge and Sharpie. I didn't care that there was a large, suited, bodyguard-type guy giving me the staredown as if to say "What. the. hell. do you think you're doing?" - that's right, I was on a mission. Now, it's what I consider the center of my gaming 733tn3ss. THIS, is the sort of thing I was talking about last week - gamer pride. | Write Comment (8 Comments) |
